New signing named on bench for Castleford as Wakefield welcome back ex-NRL duo
New signing Luis Johnson has been named on the bench for Castleford ahead of their Super League Rivals Round clash with Wakefield at the Mend-A-Hose Jungle.
Johnson, 24, arrived earlier this week on a season-long loan from fellow Super League side Hull KR.
The back-rower came through the scholarship and academy at Castleford before moving to Warrington on a three-year deal in 2018.
He later joined Hull KR ahead of 2021, where he has since played 28 games.
Meanwhile, Niall Evalds has been named to make his return to the field for first time since Round Three. The international full-back suffered a blow to an ACL joint following the club’s defeat to Wigan at home.
He also featured against Hull and St Helens.
Jack Broadbent has once again been named in the halves in replacement of Gareth Widdop, who misses out due to sickness.
The 22-year-old former Leeds outside-back will line-up alongside Jacob Miller, who is facing his former club for the first time since making the switch.
Daniel Smith has been named at 18th man for the Tigers, with George Lawler, Kenny Edwards and Muizz Mustapha making up the rest of the bench alongside Johnson.
Wakefield welcome back key men
Liam Hood returns for Wakefield following his head injury and has been named at starting hooker in the bottom-of-the-table clash.
Ex-NRL duo Kevin Proctor and Renouf Atoni also return to action, with the pair named on the bench ahead of the fixture by head coach Mark Applegarth.
Will Dagger will make his second appearance for the club at full-back following his permanent move from Hull KR.
Huddersfield trio Innes Senior, Sam Hewitt and Nathan Mason have all been named to start following their respective loan moves.
