Newcastle sign prolific winger for 2022
Newcastle have signed prolific winger Gideon Boafo from Championship rivals London Broncos for the 2022 season.
The 22-year-old former Croydon Hurricanes junior came through the ranks at the Broncos. He made his first team debut in 2021. scoring 16 tries in 13 games.
With London’s switch to a part-time environment for 2022, Boafo was lured by the life of being a full-time athlete with Thunder for 2022.
Boafo said: “I’m really excited to be joining Newcastle and continuing my journey as a professional rugby player.
“I needed to continue to be part of a full-time squad to develop. I am really happy to have the opportunity to be part of what is building here.

“I’m from south London and I’ve never lived anywhere else until the start of the week when I started here. But I am really enjoying it.
“Newcastle is a great place and everyone has been incredibly welcoming and friendly. I am enjoying getting started with the club.”

Thunder coach Eamon O’ Carroll said: “I’m really please to bring in someone of Gidz quality. He has some x-factor about him and I’m sure he’s a signing that will excite our fans.
“Like most lads he’s making a huge commitment, leaving his family to be part of our club but I’m sure he will benefit from the experience and make Newcastle his home.”
Thunder land Australian centre Jesse Dee
Newcastle have signed Australian centre Jesse Dee from Queensland Cup side Mackay Cutters for the 2022 Championship season.
The 27-year-old joins Thunder having made 17 appearances for the Cutters in 2021, where he played in the forward pack. In addition, he made his first professional steps with Illawarra Cutters in the New South Wales Cup.
