Newcastle sign Wigan youngster as Thunder retain homegrown duo
Newcastle have signed Wigan academy product Nathan Wilde as well as retaining two homegrown talents for 2021.
Prop Wilde, 21, has spent the previous six years at hometown club Wigan and helped the Warriors win the 2019 Academy Grand Final.
Thunder director of rugby Denis Betts said: “Nathan has impressed whilst part of Wigan’s Academy and is a player that we’re looking forward to working with.
“He has chosen to strike out and carve his own path by joining Thunder for next season and his desire to develop and progress fits in with the culture and goals we have as a club.
“He’s an exciting player and he is a tough player and I’m looking forward to him being with us next year.”

Wilde said: “I’m really excited about taking the next steps on my career path at Thunder.
“It’s an impressive club, with amazing facilities and a great pitch and has some real ambitions and it’s going to be great to be part of that.”
Newcastle have also announced the retention of homegrown duo Kieran Hudson and Alex Clegg for next season.
