Newcastle Thunder: No rush for success says Denis Betts
Newcastle Thunder director of rugby Denis Betts says there is no rush for success for his Championship side.
The North-East based side jumped up to seventh in the Championship table following their 12-6 victory over Widnes on Monday night.
The game, live on Premier Sports, saw Eamon O’Carroll’s men claim their fourth win of the league campaign.
Following the fixture, former Widnes head coach Betts said there is no rush to success for their side. Speaking to Emma Jones, Leon Pryce and Kevin Brown, the 52-year-old was asked about the club’s future and push for promotion.

Newcastle Thunder director of rugby on future
“We’re just excited by the group,” said Betts on Premier Sports.
“Like I say, I’m not going to give you a prediction. I know you can get your Betfred app out!
“We’ve just got to take each week as it comes. We’ve set ourselves small targets, we give ourselves little processes that we need to see each week.
“I’m hopeful of getting a Ukuma Ta’ai back in the side. He will give us some real punch. If we can get Brad Day and if we get Alex Foster in, that’s a Super League back-row.
“I think Josh Woods makes us look a little bit different functioning wise too.”

Super League ambitions
O’Carroll has previously stated the club is targeting Super League in “three to five years” from the second division.
“We have hopes and aspirations but know it’s probably not going to happen in the next two seasons,” O’Carroll said.
“I look at the short term and what we have to do to get to that point in three to five years.”
