No regrets for Eaton
Keighley coach Barry Eaton has added fuel to the fire ahead of this Thursday’s clash with Dewsbury, claiming he was right to turn down the Rams job.
The former Dewsbury and Widnes scrum half was head-hunted following the departure of Andy Kelly last season, but Eaton decided to stay at Cougar Park.
The Rams were relegated from the Championship but have won nine out of nine under new coach Warren Jowitt.
Eaton said: “It’s well documented I spoke with Dewsbury last year. I decided to stay where I am though and certainly don’t regret that decision.
“Obviously, I could have been stood in the other dugout tomorrow but I’m happy where I am and Woz (Jowitt) is doing a great job for them.
“It would be very nice if we could go there and beat Dewsbury though; not because I didn’t take that job but just because it’d serve as a massive boost for us.
“We’re only six points behind Dewsbury now and a win tomorrow could see that down to three.”
