Off the Record: Rugby League Rumours and Gossip #128
Who are in for Kenny Edwards? Where will Craig Hall be at in 2019? Find out in Ray Mour’s gossip column.
Griffin offered to clubs
There have been many rumours flying round Humberside since Adam Pearson’s strong words on Hull FC’s current players last week.
Josh Griffin has been offered to a couple of Super League clubs, including Hull KR, for the 2019 season. It is rumoured that Lee Radford and the Black and Whites are unhappy with his performances for the second half of the season and are looking to offload the centre. It could all just be rumours though.
Several contenders for Rochdale job
We reported a couple of weeks ago that former North Wales Crusaders boss Mike Grady was the favourite to take up the Rochdale Hornets job from 2019.
Love Rugby League understands that this is still the case, although Whitehaven player-coach Carl Forster is also being considered by the Hornets, and so is former Scotland boss Steve McCormack. We still believe that Grady will take over Alan Kilshaw as coach of the Hornets from next year.
Catalans keen on Hall
Catalans Dragons are lining up an offer to sign Hull Kingston Rovers star Craig Hall on a two-year deal.
Hall is currently on loan to Rovers from Leigh Centurions for the rest of the season and has yet to sign terms with any club for next season. The 30-year-old has impressed since re-joining Rovers and we understand that they would like to keep him beyond this term, but the Dragons have also shown interest in the utility-back.
Woolford to be new Ireland coach
Simon Woolford is set to take over from Mark Aston as the new Ireland head coach, according to The Sun.
The current Huddersfield Giants boss is believed to have been handed the coaching position by RLI following an impressive start to life in Super League. Woolford will lead the Wolfhounds in this year’s European Championship against Wales, Scotland and France.
Huddersfield and Wigan eyeing Edwards
Huddersfield Giants and Wigan Warriors have been linked with moves for Catalans Dragons second-rower Kenny Edwards.
The New Zealander has been immense for the Dragons since his mid-season arrival from NRL side Parramatta Eels. Catalans are hoping to secure a contract extension for Edwards, but they face stiff competition from Huddersfield and Wigan.
