Off the Record: Rugby League Rumours and Gossip #204
Its Wednesday, so the rumour and gossip column has arrived!
Inglis a potential early arrival
Warrington are looking at the possibility of bringing Australian superstar signing Greg Inglis to the club earlier than next year.
They announced the signing of the 33-year-old back in May, and although rumours of an early move were quashed back in July, amendments to the salary cap regulations and the potential for moving players on could make a move possible – especially with Inglis keen to get to the UK. He would otherwise be due to link up with the Wolves from December 1.
Field set for Wigan switch
Parramatta Eels half-back Jai Field looks set for a switch to Wigan for next year and beyond.
Wigan coach Adrian Lam has made no secret of the fact he is a keen admirer of Field and he has also qualified for a work visa. It is still unclear where Bevan French will be in 2021, with the Australian attracting interest from the NRL.
Leigh interested in Super League centre
Leigh are believed to be keen on signing Salford centre or winger Krisnan Inu ahead of the 2021 Championship campaign.
The 33-year-old has been in and out of the Salford squad in recent times and could link up with Junior Sa’u in Leigh’s backline next year.
Patton future
Warrington half-back Dec Patton isn’t going to be offered a new contract by the club at the end of the season.
The 25-year-old, who has made more than 100 first-team appearances for his hometown club, has attracted interest from a couple of Yorkshire clubs, mot notably Wakefield.
