Oldham duo pen new deals
Oldham duo Phil Joy and Liam Bent have committed their futures to the club for 2020.
Prop Joy, 28, will enter his 11th season with his hometown club next year, having already played 149 games.
Back-rower Bent, 22, has made 56 appearances for the Roughyeds since he arrived at the club in 2017.
Oldham coach Matt Diskin said: “Phil’s been at his hometown club as man and boy and it clearly means a lot to him.
“He’s a big, strong lad with good leg drive after contact. Last season was probably his best yet and I’m absolutely delighted he has decided to stay.
“Benty has got a great pedigree and he’s an absolute workhorse. Players like Benty are a bit underrated at times, but not by fellow players and coaches.
“You can’t put a value on somebody who does so much tackling in every game. It’s an understatement to say I’m looking forward to working with the lad.”
