Oldham RLFC confirm 2022 squad numbers
Oldham RLFC have announced their squad numbers for the upcoming League 1 season, with veteran half-back Martyn Ridyard taking the number six jersey.
The Roughyeds have targeted an immediate return to the Championship following their relegation at the end of last season.
They have announced a five-strong leadership group, headed by new club captain Ridyard and vice-captain Luke Nelmes.
Tom Spencer, Dave Hewitt and Jordan Andrade will also be charged with responsibility by head coach Stuart Littler.
The five leaders and squad number listing were revealed at the club’s official season launch event in the Oldham Event Centre at Boundary Park.
Addressing fans in his opening remarks, Littler said: “We want to entertain you with attractive rugby and then see our crowds get bigger as we grow as a team.
“We pride ourselves on core values because we want to get it right.
“At the same time, we recognise that these players all have full-time jobs and family commitments, so we have to get the balance right.
“We’ve 25 players and we can only play 17. We name the team, of course, but in reality it’s the players themselves who pick it with their performances in games and on the training ground.
“We’ve tried to be smart in recruitment by building a squad that can provide two or three players for each position.”
Each player was presented with their squad number by Littler and then interviewed by club chairman Chris Hamilton.
