Oldham switch Challenge Cup tie to Langtree Park
Oldham may have to switch their home Challenge Cup tie against St Helens to Langtree Park.
Oldham chairman Chris Hamilton has stressed playing the Saints at the Whitebank Stadium is not an option, due to an agreement with the RFL.
The agreement states that should Oldham be drawn at home in the Challenge Cup against Super League opponents, they cannot play at the stadium.
Both Oldham and St Helens are due to meet today to finalise arrangements.
Hamilton said: “A tie like this is reward for the superb performance the players put in to beat Barrow Raiders in the last round. Saints is one of the clubs we would have chosen.
“While it’s an unenviable task in many ways it’s also a terrific opportunity for our coach and players to pit their wits in a competitive game against a fantastic club like St Helens.
“It’s also something special for our fans.”
