Catalan forward Olivier Elima has been ruled out for four months with a ruptured bicep.

Elima, 29, suffered the injury during the defeat to Hull on Sunday, and will undergo surgery on Thursday.

He joins Brent Webb and Scott Dureau as a long-term absentee on the sidelines.

A Catalan spokesman said: “The Olivier Elima injury is another really bad news. He is one of the leaders in the team and it’s obviously a big loss for us. But this new long-term absence must be an opportunity for the young players who deserved it to play in Super League.”

Elima has been a virtual ever-present in his first season for Catalan, having signed from Bradford in the close season.

He previously played for the Dragons between 2008 and 2010, and has also played in Super League for Castleford and Wakefield.

Vincent Duport, Julian Bousquet, Thomas Bosc and Daryl Millard are also currently out through injured, but are expected to return in the coming weeks.
