Oldham have announced that half-back Lewis Palfrey will continue to skipper the side in the 2014 season.

Palfrey, 23, recently accepted an invitation to shoulder leadership responsibilities for another year, describing his reappointment as an ‘honour and a privilege’.

Meanwhile, hooker Sam Gee will also continue in his role of vice-captain.

Commenting on his confidence in Palfrey and Gee to lead by example, coach Scott Naylor said:

“They did a great job last year, both on and off the field, and I’m more than happy for them to carry on.”

In other news, the Roughyeds have appointed former player Neil Roden as coach of the under-20s squad, succeeding Phil Costin.

Roden, who retired as a player at the end of last season, had a 12-month testimonial begin on January 1st which will run throughout 2014.
