Paper Talk: Hull KR target Leeds forward, London calling Logan, Widnes star set for Salford switch
We have had a scan through the trade papers.
London calling Hull FC youngster
London Broncos are on the verge of signing outside-back Jack Logan from Hull FC for the 2019 season, report League Express.
Jordan Abdull’s move from the Black and Whites to the capital was confirmed from last week. Logan has found chances limited at Hull in recent seasons, and he is one of several players the Broncos are believed to be interested in as they aim to build a squad capable of surviving in Super League in 2019, according to League Express.
Halifax win race for Super League full-back
Halifax have re-signed Quentin Laulu-Togaga’e from Castleford Tigers in face of stiff competition from Super League club Hull Kingston Rovers and Championship newcomers Widnes Vikings, report League Weekly.
The 33-year-old left Castleford Tigers at the end of the 2018 season and attracted plenty of interest from the Championship as well as a few Super League sides. League Weekly report that his agent, David Howes, said on Sunday that Laulu-Togaga’e enjoyed his time at Halifax midway through 2018 and felt as though a return to The Shay was the best move for him.
Hull KR target Leeds forward
Hull Kingston Rovers are one of several clubs interested in Leeds Rhinos prop Mitch Garbutt for 2019, report League Express.
The Rhinos have told several players that they are free to find other clubs and Garbutt, who has been at Headingley since 2015, has caught the eye of a number of Super League clubs – including Rovers.
Widnes star set for Salford switch
Widnes Vikings centre Krisnan Inu is on his way to Salford Red Devils in time for pre-season training, report League Weekly.
According to League Weekly, the former New Zealand and Samoa international currently lives in the Greater Manchester area and the move will suit him. Alongside Charlie Gubb, the 31-year-old has yet to pen a new deal with Widnes following their relegation from Super League.
Swinton hungry for Moore
Swinton Lions are among the clubs showing an interest in offering experienced ex-England playmaker Scott Moore a route back into the professional game, report League Express.
The 30-year-old is looking for a return to the sport after being released from jail, and is a childhood friend of Swinton chairman Andy Mazey. On possibly signing Moore, Mazey told League Express: “Scott is a free agent and is someone that we are having a chat with.”
Leeds land Merrin
Leeds Rhinos are understood to have won the battle to sign Penrith Panthers star Trent Merrin, report League Weekly.
The 29-year-old was linked with a switch to South Sydney Rabbitohs last week but sources close to Headingley have told League Weekly that the former Australia international is on his way to the UK. Penrith director Greg Alexander said: “He’s 29, so if he gets a four-year deal at Leeds – a great club in the English Super League – I wish him well.”
