Paul Green: Ben Barba wants to play for North Queensland Cowboys

North Queensland Cowboys coach Paul Green has revealed that Ben Barba would like to make the switch from St Helens.

Reports emerged from Down Under last week claiming that Saints full-back Barba will join the Cowboys for the 2019 season, with out-of-favour Lachlan Coote going the other way.

Barba is under contract with Super League side Saints for next season, but Cowboys’ coach Green has confirmed that Barba wants to join the club and return to the NRL.

Green told NRL.com: “At this stage, full-back is a position we are looking at.

“We are looking at a number of possibilities, but Ben is obviously a great player and if we can work something out there then that would be good.

“We have got a strong group up here and he wants to play for the club if it gets to that point.

“I think that anyone who pulls on our jersey has got to buy into our culture and I am sure he will if we get to that point.”
