Paul King becomes a Knight

York City Knights have moved to sign former Great Britain international prop-forward Paul King on a one-year contract.

The former Hull FC, Wakefield and Whitehaven powerhouse forward, who has made over 250 appearances in the top flight, will add power, experience and leadership to the Knights forward pack.

Commenting on the signing, York Head Coach Chris Thorman noted that the signing was possible due to the Squad Builder Fund in place at the City Knights.

“I played with Paul at Hull FC and he is an aggressive front rower who in addition to being a strong ball carrier also has an offload game and the ability to play at the line. We have spoken on many occasions about adding experience to the squad and with the likes of Paul, Adam Sullivan and Tommy Haughey we have done just that”.

Thorman was also quick to praise the Squad Builder Fund for its contribution to the signing,

“We made an appeal on Friday for supporters to donate to the Squad Builder Fund and in just four days we managed to raise a significant amount of money to help fund the signing. The passion our fans have for this club is amazing and I would like to thank each and every one of them for their support”.
