Preview: York v Dewsbury
York City Knights coach Dave Woods has a fully fit squad after Monday’s morale-boosting 16-10 win at Toulouse.
Three days earlier York had been on the wrong end of a 50-12 defeat against Hunslet.
Woods said: “We know these lads can play the game, and the performance against Toulouse was very encouraging. I’m really proud of what they did.”
Now Woods is focussing on ensuring his team is as fresh as possible to face Dewsbury Rams.
He said: “It’s not so much those two games over the Easter weekend that get you, it’s the one the weekend after, and then the weekend after that, that you need to make sure you prepare for. Hopefully we’ll do all the right things and be ready to fire.”
Dewsbury’s James Craven is struggling with a knee injury, while Ayden Faal will be given until Friday to recover from a wrist problem. Pat Walker is also doubtful.
Rams coach Warren Jowitt watched his side fall to back-to-back defeats over the Easter weekend.
He said: “We put in a massive effort and played very well against Batley, but against Halifax the lads’ energy had gone.
“We’re one of the fittest teams around, but that shows how much that Batley game, and playing with 12 men for an hour, took out of us.”
