Red Star Belgrade sign Scotland youngster
Red Star Belgrade have signed Scotland Under-19s international and former Newcastle youngster Fergus Simpson.
Simpson was a part of Thunder’s academy, and becomes the second Scotland Under-19 representative to play for the club after Sam Herron.
Simpson said: “I am very grateful for the opportunity to play in a club that has a great influence within the league and I can’t wait to meet my teammates and go out on the field with them.
“This will be a great opportunity for me to personally progress in the game and I hope to win titles and medals with a great club.”
Joint-manager Vojislav Dedić added: “We are very pleased that Fergus has signed. This is a great opportunity for him to play rugby league and live in another country, he will definitely gain new playing and life experience here with us. With him in the team, we will have a better structure and direction in attack. It doesn’t matter that he is young, we can all learn a lot from him.”
