Newman delight to return
Leeds centre Harry Newman spoke of his delight following his try-scoring return from seven-month injury lay-off. (Yorkshire Evening Post)
The 23-year-old scored on his return in the Rhinos’ 26-0 win over Wakefield on Friday.
Newman told the Yorkshire Evening Post: “I am just happy to be back and grateful to everyone who’s helped me over the last seven months get back to where I am.”
Charnley granted testimonial
The Rugby Football League have granted Leigh winger Josh Charnley a 12-month testimonial for the 2024 season.
Charnley tweeted: “Thank you to the RFL and the clubs I have been involved with.
“My testimonial year will be the perfect opportunity not to just look back at all those great times and achievements, but also to acknowledge and reflect upon those who inspired me to achieve a point in my career, which as a kid, I could only have dreamed of. Forever grateful.”

Workington make new signing
League 1 side Workington have signed Luke Charlton following a successful trial period.
A club statement read: “Luke comes from a family that has a long history with Town. His dad Gary who played and coached and grandad Paul is a Town Hall of Famer.
“We know that the family will be very proud and we’re delighted to have another Charlo around at Derwent Park who’ll make his own unique mark on the history or our club.”

Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook made his 450th career appearance in St Helens’ 20-12 defeat at Leigh on Friday.
He has played 348 games for St Helens and 97 for Harlequins. He won two caps for England before switching his allegiance to Ireland at the 2017 World Cup, where he played three games.
