Sarginson retires
Former England international Dan Sarginson has called time on his rugby league career aged just 29. (Mirror)
The ex-Wigan and Salford centre told the Mirror: “I just had to follow my gut. I got to the stage where I was perhaps looking for more purpose in my life.
“I’ve loved rugby league. Don’t get me wrong: I’ve met some amazing people and I’m super proud of everything I’ve achieved like moving away from home in London, taking big risks and learning so many beautiful life lessons playing this sport.”
Warrington to rest prop
Warrington coach Daryl Powell has hinted that they will give in-form forward James Harrison a period of rest whilst he nurses a knee injury (Warrington Guardian)
Harrison has been impressive in the early rounds but he is set to spend some time on the sideline due to a knee injury that has limited his training time.
Powell told Warrington Guardian: “Jimmy’s been struggling so players coming back in next week will be a welcome relief for him. He needs a little bit of time to settle his knee down.”
Castleford injury update
Castleford could welcome back captain Paul McShane for their clash with Leeds on Thursday night. (The Yorkshire Post)
Tigers interim coach Andy Last told The Yorkshire Post: “Hopefully, fingers crossed, we’ll get Paul McShane, George Griffin and Bureta Faraimo back in the fold for the Leeds game.”
Oldham honour Sinfield
Kevin Sinfield’s hometown of Oldham has paid tribute to Leeds Rhinos legend. (Yorkshire Evening Post)
The former Rhinos captain will be made an honorary freeman of the borough in Oldham, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.
