Roosters release Leilua

Sydney Roosters centre Joseph Leilua has been released from the final two years of his contract.

Leilua, who was found not guilty on assault charges relating to an alleged attack on his girlfiend in May, seems to have been unable to convince new coach Trent Robinson to retain him.

“Leilua will leave the club immediately and no further comment will be forthcoming from the Sydney Roosters,” the club said in a statement.
