No relegation talk

No relegation from Super League this year seems inevitable, following reports that yet another re-structure is in the pipeline. Brian Carney said live on Sky Sports that there will be no relegation in 2021, which follows a similar revelation from BBC during their Challenge Cup final coverage – though this was then denied by RFL and Super League chiefs. While no official announcement has been made as yet, it’s likely to form part of whatever agreement sees the two bodies re-align in the coming months.

Norman set for Super League?

Wigan could replace Jackson Hastings with St George Illawarra Dragons half-back Corey Norman, who is being linked with a move to Super League. Another option could be Catalans, who are yet to decide on whether to take up on option on James Maloney at the end of the year. (Manchester Evening News)

Leeds’ half-back conundrum

Blake Austin has signed for Leeds on a one-year deal for the 2022 season

Leeds have a selection dilemma in the halves for next season. It looks like Luke Gale’s future at Headingley hangs in the balance after the club announced the signing of Blake Austin from Warrington for next season. The Rhinos have already confirmed the capture of Aidan Sezer from Huddersfield in recent weeks and there have been rumours of Gale going to Wakefield. Agar has also said that he would like off-contract youngster Callum McLelland to stay at the Rhinos beyond this season, with the Scotland international being linked with a move to his former club Castleford.

Huddersfield linked with international hooker

New Zealand and Samoa international hooker Danny Levi has been made a long-term offer from Huddersfield. The 25-year-old former Newcastle and Manly star joined Brisbane ahead of this season but has only played five NRL games this term. It has also been reported that Salford are keen to bring in half-back Brodie Croft from Brisbane. (The Mole)

Cudjoe future

Huddersfield legend Leroy Cudjoe is out of contract at the end of the season and the club have yet to offer him a new deal for 2022. The 33-year-old former England international recently made his 300th appearance for his hometown club. (League Express)
