The latest rumours in the world of rugby league.
Tongan star set for Super League?
Tonga star Sio Siua Taukeiaho could be set for a move to Super League in 2022. The goal-kicking forward has made 142 appearances for Sydney Roosters since 2015 but a surprise move to England could be on the cards. Australian journalist Buzz Rothfield tweeted that he believes Taukeiaho could be on his way to Super League for next season. (Buzz Rothfield)
Gale gossip
The rumour mill was in overdrive regarding Leeds’ now former skipper Luke Gale, who revealed the reason for being stripped of the captaincy in a column in The Yorkshire Post on Tuesday. He did that to try and quash speculation, which varied from the wild to the extraordinary on social media, including false reports of a bust up with Richie Myler. What won’t go away though is talk that he could be heading out of the Headingley exit door at the end of the season, with Wakefield rumoured to be suitors. While there is no suggestion Gale’s departure is imminent, talk over Blake Austin’s future has linked him with Leeds and has led to people putting two and two together.
Fash future
The future of Hull forward Brad Fash remains up in the air, with Hull coach Brett Hodgson refusing to be drawn on the situation. Fash has been a regular this season but is out of contract and was announced on the RFL’s list of players without a deal for 2022. (Hull Daily Mail)
Baitieri to play on
French champions Lezignan are building a formidable pack to defend their title next season, and are set to add Catalans forward Jason Baitieri to their ranks. The long-serving France international has confirmed his departure from the Dragons at the end of the season, and he is set to link up with former team-mate Sam Moa.
Off-contract Fages
It looks as though half-back Theo Fages could have played his last match for St Helens. The France international, who has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a shoulder injury, is off-contract at the end of the year and has been heavily linked with a move to Huddersfield for 2022.
Willie stay?
Wigan coach Adrian Lam has revealed talks are “well down the track” over extending Willie Isa’s contract. The 32-year-old forward is off-contract at the end of the season but he is in talks to extend his stay at the DW Stadium. Lam said: “I think they’re well down the track with that.” (Wigan Today)
