Rugby League Today: Name your captain, previews begin and visa woe
What’s on site
The new Super League season starts two weeks today!
That has apparently triggered a few clubs in to naming their captains, at least publicly. Warrington confirmed Chris Hill would continue, with the interesting choice of former Widnes skipper Kevin Brown as vice-captain.
Further east, Hull have appointed Danny Houghton as successor to the retired Gareth Ellis.
The other big news coming out on Wednesday was that Featherstone had missed out on Toulouse winger Kuni Minga, because he had only played 73.7% of their games – when he needed 75% to qualify for a visa endorsement. Ouch.
In case you missed it, our first Super League club preview hit the site – Warrington.
What’s on social
Over the next few weeks, we will be creating groups over on our Facebook page for supporters of individual clubs. Warrington and Widnes are both already live and available to join, and these will include news, gossip and scores from their club alone.
Over time, we’ll hopefully open this up to more fan generated content and give you even more exclusive insight. We’re always looking to improve coverage and provide more channels, and this is an exciting experiment for us to get closer to the fans.
