Salford assign player ambassadors to local schools

Salford have revealed that they have been sending players like Mark Flanagan and Greg Johnson as official ambassadors to schools in the local area.

This is intended to build on the work done by the Salford Red Devils Foundation in schools across Salford, Bury, Manchester and Trafford.

Throughout this year, the Foundation have delivered thousands of hours of specialist rugby and dance coaching in over 120 primary schools and 30 high schools.

Many of the pupils engaged have experienced rugby league for the first time.

“Having the player ambassador programme is fantastic,” said Foundation officer Mark Brocklehurst.

“You can see the effect meeting the players has on the kids, they are inspired.

“We currently working on a ticket deal to make professional rugby league as accessible as possible to school children and hopefully we can inspire the next generation of Red Devils supporters”.
