The fact that Huddersfield have only played one game so far this season could be an advantage to Salford, according to Red Devils boss Ian Watson.

The Red Devils host the Giants at the AJ Bell Stadium in front of the Sky cameras on Friday night, 7:45pm kick-off.

And Watson hopes to catch Huddersfield off-guard as he continues to grow new combinations following a big change to his squad in the off-season.

He said: “That’s why it was important we played so many times in pre-season with three friendlies.

“We’re trying to build a new team and the more games we play the better it will be for us because we feel we’ll gel and grow on the back of that.

“Huddersfield can say they are going to be fresh but they only had the one pre-season game and they’ve only had the one Super League game where Catalans were very rusty.

“Hopefully it will work to our advantage more than theirs.”
