Salford sign Featherstone pair
Salford have confirmed the signings of Featherstone pair Jack Ormondroyd and Connor Jones.
The pair were unveiled at half time of Salford’s final home regular season game against Hull KR on Friday night.
Australian hooker Jones, 24, joined Rovers from Northern Pride earlier this season and holds a UK passport, so won’t count on the Red Devils’ quota.
Salford coach Ian Watson said: “Connor has shown good ability when he has come off the bench for Featherstone, he is a threat from dummy half and I think he has been their better nine this year.
“I know they’ve got Cameron King but for me, Connor is a lot more of a threat and is a lot stronger. I’m looking forward to bringing him in and working with him.”
Ormondroyd, 27, is a prop that has played more than 90 games in two spells with Rovers, as well as turning out 15 times for Leeds.
Watson added: “Jack is huge, he’s lightning quick and he has got great feet which is different to what we’ve got.
“He’s played at the top level with Leeds, he’s played in a World Club Challenge against Melbourne Storm so he knows what it takes to play at the top.
“At 27, this is the peak time for him now and it’s time for him to put his best performances forward. We are really confident in both of them.”
