Salford want to go 7/7 in The Qualifiers
Salford centre Kris Welham says they not only want to secure Super League survival, but win seven from seven in The Qualifiers this season.
The Red Devils have got off to the perfect start, beating Hull KR and Widnes in the opening two rounds, and travel to face Championship side Halifax on Sunday.
Welham told Red Devils TV: “Beating two Super League sides is a big bonus, and we’re moving in the right direction.
“We’ve watched a bit of video on Halifax this week, they’ve gone well all season and are consistent, there’s no doubt they’re a good side and we won’t take them lightly, they’ve got some experienced players.
“It’s massive we get the win. We don’t want to lose any game. We want to go seven from seven, so hopefully this week will be another one ticked off and we can carry that momentum moving forward.”
Welham retains his place in Ian Watson’s 19-man squad having returned from injury last time out.
Forward Luke Burgess is set to make his first appearance since May having recovered from a knee injury, while Tyrone McCarthy also returns.
Meanwhile, Halifax are missing both Steve Tyrer and Ed Barber, who will miss the rest of the season, though do welcome back Adam Tangata.
Halifax 19-man squad: Baldwinson, Butler, Cooper, Fairbank, Fleming, Grady, Grix, Heaton, Johnston, Jones, Kaye, Maher, Moore, Moss, Murrell, Sharp, Tangata, Wood, Woodburn-Hall.
Salford 19-man squad: Welham, Sa’u, Evalds, Lui, Jones, Flanagan, Tasi, Lannon, Burgess, McCarthy, Nakubuwai, Wood, Olpherts, Bibby, Murray, Chamberlain, Burke, Hastings, Lussick.
