Sa’u: Warrington win is a great building block

Salford centre Junior Sa’u believes the win against a strong team like Warrington can serve as a platform for the Red Devils going forward.

Salford claimed a 24-14 victory against Warrington at the AJ Bell Stadium on Saturday.

“We knew it was going to be a massive game for us and test us too because they’re a great side and never backed down,” Sa’u told Love Rugby League.

“We came out on top in the last 10 minutes but as long as we can stay in an arm wrestle with the top teams we can go far.”

Sa’u was happy with how the Red Devils responded after losing out to Leeds in controversial fashion last week.

“It was disappointing but we’re not going to get some of those calls because of who we are,” he said.

“We spoke as team that we’ve just got to play to the whistle and just get on with it.

“It was a good response from the boys after last week.”

Sa’u was pleased to score two tries against the Wire, but praised the work of the forwards as well as fullback Gareth O’Brien.

“It is off the back off our forwards putting in the hard yards and my job is pretty easy just making sure I finish it,” he added.

“Having Gaz out there now playing awesome footy is a big threat as well which opens it up for me as well.”
