Sharks move for Tagatese and Robson

Cronulla’s efforts to rebuild their squad for next season have been boosted by the double signing of Sam Tagataese and Jeff Robson.

Prop Tagataese, 24, joins the Sharks from Gold Coast while 28-year-old halfback Robson makes the move from Parramatta.

Both have signed two year deals.

Hard-hitting Tagataese joins the club with immediate effect, despite having another two years left on his Titans contract.

He is thought to be a victim of coach John Cartwright’s efforts to negotiate the salary cap, following the high-profile signing of Jamal Idris.

Robson appears to have suffered a similar fate at the Eels after Chris Sandow‘s decision to move from South Sydney.

Tagataese has been named as 18th man on an extended Sharks bench for Sunday’s clash with Canterbury.

A club statement from the Sharks said:  “The acquisitions of Tagataese and Robson is a continuation of the Sharks aggressive recruiting for the future, coming hot on the heels of the club securing the services of young stars Stewart Mills, Albert Kelly and Chad Townsend in recent weeks.

“The Sharks will also continue to be active in the player market, with more announcements of player signings expected in the coming days and weeks.”
