Six-match ban for Wigan forward Morgan Smithies
Morgan Smithies has received a total ban of six-matches following Wigan’s clash against Castleford.
The young forward had already received a two-match ban for headbutting, but the 19-year-old received a further four-match ban and fined £500 after pleading guilty to a charge of Grade D Dangerous Contact following a tackle on Jame Clare.
Clare, 29, left the field on a stretcher during the clash, but revealed on Twitter that he is recovering well.
“Home safe and sound,” he wrote on social media.
“X-rays all clear. Nothing that a cuddle with my little boy can’t fix. Thank you very much to everyone who helped me at the Halliwell Jones stadium and Warrington Hospital.
“Thanks to everyone that messaged me.”
