Skolars pair return from injury

Matt Carter and Aaron Quinn are available for Skolars after recovering from shoulder and hip injuries respectively.

Coach James Massara said: “They’ve both taken a full part in training this week, which is really good news.

James Simon’s shoulder problem is also looking pretty good. All three are available for selection, which is pleasing because they’re all robust blokes who add a lot to what we do.”

Skolars head to The Twickenham Stoop for Saturday’s clash as part of a double header that also includes Harlequins’ Engage Super League clash with Leeds Rhinos.

Massara said: “A lot of our guys have played there before with Harlequins’ reserves. It’ll be a big occasion for some guys who’ve never played there, and also for those who are going back there.”

According to Massara, Jason Cook (shoulder) is unlikely to feature unless there is “some big improvement” in his condition.

Massara added: “York are going to be fired up and they had a fantastic win on the week before last. We’ve played them twice already and we’re aware of what they offer, but we’re looking forward to it.”

Danny Allan will not play for York after suffering a major injury to his right arm during his Knights debut last week.

However, Jordan Ross could return to Dave Woods’ squad.

Woods said: “We know it’s going to be tough, with two of the Thorman brothers being down there, but I don’t think the players have even spoken about the fact we’re playing at The Stoop. It won’t have an effect on us because we’ve got to concentrate on the actual game itself.”
