Smith expecting tough challenge against Oldham

Tony Smith has said that he is fully prepared for the challenge his Warrington Wolves side face against Oldham Roughyeds in the Challenge Cup this weekend.

Warrington travel to Bowers Fold to face Championship side Oldham, who beat Hull Kingston Rovers in the previous round to face the Wolves in the sixth round.

Smith is under no illusion of the challenge his side face this weekend, and says it will be a tough game and has prepared his side as such so that they avoid a cup upset.

“We’ve watched five games of theirs, including the Hull KR game, and they are an impressive side,” Smith told the Warrington Guardian.

“They are on a very good run and have knocked off some good teams in recent weeks, like Sheffield and Featherstone. They’ll be on a wave of confidence with that plus the Hull KR result but we feel we have a fairly comprehensive idea of how they might play and we’ll take it as seriously as any other game.

“It’s a very small pitch at their place and it probably suits the way they play.

“We have to be prepared for that. We all know what happened to Hull KR so we have to make sure we take it seriously but I know we will.”
