Smith happy with Sharks
Cronulla captain Jeremy Smith has lauded his team for their performance in the victory over Brisbane.
The Sharks dominated their hosts from the kick off and raced out to a 16-0 lead, but the Broncos fought their way back into the contest.
Two late tries from Nathan Stapleton and Colin Best however sealed a well-deserved win for the Sharks.
“You can’t really explain it I suppose, get the possession back and get back into the grind,” Smith told the club’s official website.
“That’s the only way you can get momentum back.
“It’s a funny thing, when you lose momentum it’s very hard to get back.
“We started to in the back half of the second half, we grinded away and we could slowly fell it swinging again.”
Coach Shane Flanagan meanwhile said the Sharks nearly threw the match away with a disasterous period after the break.
“It was just a comedy of errors there, but they hung tough, got their heads back together and eventually scored a couple of tries late” said Flanagan.
