Snowden considers mystery offer
Mystery surrounds the identity of the club looking to lure forward Kade Snowden away from Cronulla.
Snowden, 24, was due to attend a Sharks press conference today, announcing his decision to extend his contract with the club for a further two years.
But in a dramatic turn of events, the former Newcastle player received a “substantial” counter offer by an unknown third party, and the press conference was cancelled.
Officials from Newcastle, who made Snowden an offer in December, have since denied any involvement.
A statement from Cronulla said they have given Snowden, who appeared for NSW Country last year, more time to consider the offer.
It read: “Pressure that has been applied by a third party and the timing of such, has placed Kade under a lot of stress today, and we felt that it was in his bests interests not to hold the press conference this afternoon.
“Kade is comfortable with the deal put forward by the Sharks, however due to the unforeseen circumstances that have arisen at the last minute, the club has agreed to give him some additional time to comes to terms with recent developments.
“The club will provide further updates in due course.”
