South Sydney Rabbitohs sign forward from rivals Roosters

South Sydney Rabbitohs have signed forward Daniel Suluka-Fifita from NRL rivals Roosters from the 2023 season.

He joins on a deal until at least the end of the 2025 campaign.

A South Sydney junior, Suluka-Fifita has played 19 NRL matches for the Roosters. He made his debut as a 20-year-old against the Gold Coast Titans in 2020.

The now 22-year-old was a member of the South Sydney SG Ball Cup and Harold Matthews Cup squads between 2014 and 2017. He played alongside current Rabbitohs stars Cameron Murray and Campbell Graham.

Rabbitohs head of football Mark Ellison said: “It’s great to be able to bring a South Sydney junior back into the fold. We’re really looking forward to having Daniel return home next season.

“We were disappointed to lose him back in 2018 as we saw a bright future for him in the red and green. So, it’s wonderful to know that he sees his future at the Rabbitohs.

“He’s a big body, very strong defensively, runs hard, and is skillful – everything we’re looking for to complement the middle forwards we have currently at our club.

“He’s a young dad with his best football in front of him. We wish him the best for the remainder of this season. We can’t wait to see him in red and green once again for the 2023 pre-season.”

Papua New Guinea international Justin Olam has signed a new contract extension with Melbourne Storm.

The reigning Dally M Centre of the Year will be with the club for the next four seasons following his new deal.

Olam’s renewed contract will see him with the club until at least the end of the 2026 campaign. It will bring his time with the Storm to 10 seasons.
