Soward eyes Segeyaro reunion

Jamie Soward is looking forward to crossing paths with his former Penrith teammate James Segeyaro in the Super 8s.

Soward’s London and Segeyaro’s Leeds will face off on August 20.

The five-eighth will come up against a number of familiar faces in the Supers, inclyding ex-Panthers forward Ben Murdoch-Masilia at Salford and Huddersfield hooker Ryan Hinchcliffe.

“Yeah I know all those guys and pretty much all the Australians in the NRL or that have been in the NRL,” Soward told Love Rugby League.

“I’ve got to know them and I’ve grown up playing against Ryan Hinchcliffe, so I’ve been playing against him since he was like 10 or 12 so I know him very well.

“And everyone knows how close me and ‘Chiko’ [Segeyaro] are so it was good to see him come over here and pretty much starting to play some good footy and enjoy his time.

“For me I’ve just got to concentrate on my game. I’m not over here for a holiday, I like winning so I’m not really worried who we come up against to tell you the truth.

“Leeds are a strong outfit and they’re gonna be favourites. Most of the Super League clubs will think they’re favourites as well.”

The Broncos start their Super 8s campaign tomorrow at Leigh.

Soward expects most people to write off London’s chances.

“If you have a look and put us all in order everyone will write us off and we’ll miss out on promotion but… I think I can come and add something to the squad,” he said.

“The coach has sort of put that faith in me to start at halfback so I’m just coming over here to enjoy my footy and I’ve been playing some good footy back home.”
