Leigh have announced the signing of prop Tom Spencer from Wigan on a permanent basis.

Spencer, 22, has been on dual registration with the Centurions for the past two seasons and has proved a popular figure at the club

After making his Warriors debut against Leeds in 2012, Spencer went on to make seven appearances for the current Challenge Cup holders.

Three of those appearances came in 2013 but he spent most of the season in Leigh colours, scoring four tries in 26 matches.

Centurions head coach Paul Rowley had this to say: “I am delighted that I get the pleasure of working with Tom on a permanent basis in 2014.

“He is a hugely popular figure and it is exciting to witness such a fearless player like Tom represent this club with pride and passion.

“Tom is a well grounded young man with strong family values who will be yet another fantastic role model for our towns youngsters.

“He has turned down several Super League opportunities to commit his future to the Centurions and I am immensely proud to have him as part of my team.”
