St Helens eyeing up return date for Regan Grace
St Helens are hoping that winger Regan Grace will return to the field for their upcoming clash against Warrington in the Super League.
The reigning champions travel to the Halliwell Jones Stadium in Round 13 of Super League on Thursday, May 19.
Grace is yet to make a Super League appearance in 2022. His only game so far came during the club’s Challenge Cup clash against Whitehaven, but he left the field through injury.
The Wales international was fighting a bicep injury early in the season, picked up during pre-season.
During the Challenge Cup sixth round tie, Grace picked up a hamstring injury in his comeback that limited his game time.
Regan Grace return date
During the club’s pre-match press conference, St Helens assistant coach Paul Wellens confirmed the hopeful return date≥
“Regan is close,” Wellens said.
“He’s finishing a few bits with the physios. We envisage that he will return to full squad next week to train with a view to maybe play against Warrington.
“If he doesn’t play at Warrington, we hope that he’d definitely be back for the week after that.”
Will Hopoate update
Wellens also provided an update on injured centre Will Hopoate. The former Canterbury Bulldogs man has battled with injuries since making the switch to Super League.
“Will has a hamstring issue that Kristian (Woolf) has mentioned in the past,” Wellens said.
“He’s similar to Regan in that he’s not far off from returning to training with the squad.
“He has a few boxes that need ticking off with the medical staff. If we can get him back into training next week, maybe he’ll give himself a chance to play against Warrington. But it’s more likely to be the week after.”
