Castleford’s on-loan forward Luis Johnson is set to line-up against parent club Hull KR this weekend.

Johnson, 24, joined the Tigers recently on a season-long loan deal, returning to the club where he came through the scholarship system.

A move to Warrington’s academy followed and he made his Super League debut for them in 2018, but only made nine appearances before moving on to Hull KR in a swap deal that saw Robbie Mulhern go in the opposite direction.

Brought in by Andy Last to bolster Castleford’s pack, Johnson appeared as a substitute in the win over Wakefield and last week’s defeat at Salford.

He had previously been named as 18th man in three Hull KR fixtures this term.

Robins coach Willie Peters appeared to confirm that Johnson will be available to play against his parent club in his weekly press conference.

He said: “He’s on a season-long loan but we’re not going to stop him playing. The whole purpose of him going out on loan was to get him to play first team, and he’s getting picked and playing first team.

We can always call Luis back at any time and that’s always been the agreement. It’s good to see him playing.

I’ll look at him after the game, I’ve been keeping an eye on how he’s going, but if he’s wearing a Castleford shirt this week then he’s wearing a Castleford shirt this week and we’ll just worry about what we do.”

Castleford will announce their 21-man squad for the home game against Hull KR, which will be televised live on Sky Sports, at 12noon on Wednesday.
