Super League move interests Bowen
North Queensland full-back Matt Bowen could be the next NRL full-back to move to Super League, after Lance Hohaia‘s switch to St Helens.
Bowen, 29, has racked up more than 200 NRL appearances for the Cowboys, as well as his seven caps for the Kangaroos, and admitted to Australian magazine Rugby League Week that a move to the UK would interest him.
He said: “I’d love to go. But in saying that I’d love to stay and finish my career here. If I do get the chance to go over there, I’ll definitely take it.
“I haven’t spoken to my manager. I’m sure he’s got something in mind. We’ll see what’s on the table and go from there.”
New Zealand international Hohaia, 28, will leave New Zealand Warriors at the end of the season to take up a four-year deal at Saints.
Hohaia, who told his team-mates yesterday morning he was heading to Merseyside, speaks to League Week about his fears that being dumped from first grade could have hurt his career prospects.
He said: “It’s never nice being left out of the team, especially with everything I’ve achieved.
“(I thought) if I’m not playing well and I’m not in the team at the Warriors, those opportunities might dry up.”
