Hull FC have confirmed that Chris Satae and Brad Dwyer will depart the club at the end of the 2023 Super League campaign.

Satae, 30, has made 74 Super League appearances to date, including an ever-present season under Tony Smith at the MKM Stadium so far in 2023.

The Tongan-born forward originally made the switch in 2019 from New Zealand Warriors, and was off-contract at the end of the current campaign.

He has made 83 appearances for the club in all competitions and has previously represented the Combined Nations All Stars against England.

Dwyer, also 30, will leave the MKM Stadium after just one season. The hooker made the off-season switch from Leeds, and has also featured in every Super League game so far in 2023 for the Black & Whites.

He has made 194 Super League appearances to date, having made his debut with Warrington back in 2012.

Hull confirmed that both players are departing the club at the end of the season for family reasons and will take up new challenges elsewhere in Super League.

Tony Smith on departures

Head coach Tony Smith said: “Chris has been with the club for a number of years now and he is seeking a new challenge and a change of lifestyle with his family, which we fully respect.

“He has been a total joy to work with and he is whole-heartedly looking forward to seeing out the rest of the year with Hull FC whilst in great physical and mental shape.”

On Dwyer, Smith added: “It’s the second time I have worked with Brad throughout my coaching career and he is enjoying his time with us, but he now has opportunity to be a little bit closer to home which is right for him and his family.

“Like Chris, Brad is really focused on the remainder of the year with us and they both have a big role to play.”
