Super League prop becomes Bradford’s latest loan signing
Huddersfield prop forward Nathan Mason has been recalled from his loan spell at Wakefield to link up with Bradford on a short-term deal.
Mason, 29, joins the Championship outfit on a two-week rolling loan with immediate effect.
He has been named in their 21-man squad for Sunday’s home clash with Swinton, alongside fellow loanee Fenton Rodgers.
The forward joined Mark Applegarth’s struggling Wakefield earlier in April on a short-term loan deal, with his only game coming in the 16-4 defeat to Castleford at the Mend-A-Hose Jungle.
Assistant coach Lee Greenwood takes charge of Bradford on an interim basis following the departure of head coach Mark Dunning.
Bradford currently sit eighth in the Championship table, recording five wins from 10.
Nathan Mason makes Championship move
Huddersfield managing director Richard Thewlis commented on the move: “Nathan hasn’t played much due to various circumstances but is fit and ready to fire and show everyone what he is about in a Bulls shirt.
“It has been a frustrating time for him in many respects and we all realise that the week in week out rigours of the Championship are a far better competition for Nathan than the reserves grade would be for a player of his experience and ability and he joins a side of course with high expectations of success.
“Our position in the middle area of the field is currently pretty healthy with Joe Greenwood progressing well and therefore we were happy to facilitate this move for Nathan by the Bulls but like all loans it can be recalled after a 14 day period.”
No Leeds players have linked up at Odsal Stadium this weekend.
Bradford welcome open applications over vacant head coaching job
Bradford have opened applications for their vacant role as head coach in the Championship following the departure of Dunning.
The club parted ways with Dunning on Monday by mutual consent, less than 24 hours after the side’s 46-12 defeat to Barrow at the Matt Johnson Prestige Stadium.
It marked Bradford’s fifth defeat of the season, placing them eighth in the Championship table after 10 rounds of action.
Dunning was appointed as permanent head coach last July on a contract until November 2023, having initially acted as interim head coach following the departure of John Kear.
