Super League Round 7 attendances as two fixtures record more than 10,000

Two fixtures recorded crowds of more than 10,000 during the latest round of Super League action, including Saturday’s televised clash at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.

Daryl Powell’s Warrington continued their unbeaten run with their seventh win of the season, claiming a 34-6 victory over Hull, live on Channel 4.

10,797 attended the fixture as Tony Smith’s side fell to their fifth straight defeat, leaving them 10th on the Super League table.

Following four home fixtures, Warrington hold an average attendance of 10,892 so far in 2023 – beating their 2022 average of 8,719.

St Helens also posted a crowd of more than 10,000 in their Friday night 38-0 victory over Wakefield at the Totally Wicked Stadium.

10,304 attended the fixture as Paul Wellens’ side claimed their fourth win of the season, while Wakefield are still left searching for their first points of the year.

Elsewhere in Super League

Thursday night’s Battle of the Borough at the Leigh Sports Village attracted a record crowd for hosts Leigh, with 9,189 supporters in attendance.

Leigh’s previous best in the top division was 9,012.

Wigan spoiled the party on the night with a 34-6 victory, while The Lottery Winners performed a 40-minute set ahead of kick-off.

Matt Peet’s Warriors are likely to be without Jai Field, Liam Marshall and Cade Cust due to injury for their Good Friday derby against St Helens at the DW Stadium.

Saturday night’s fixture in Perpignan recorded a crowd of 8,900 as Catalans claimed a late winner over Castleford through Mike McMeeken for a 22-18 score.

Andy Last’s Tigers had led 18-16 with just minutes to go thanks to a long-range effort from Jake Broadbent.

Salford’s home fixture on Sunday at the AJ Bell Stadium posted an attendance of 4,764 as Paul Rowley’s side fell to a 26-16 defeat to Ian Watson’s Huddersfield.

However, the victory came at a price for the Giants, with Watson confirming injury blows to key duo Will Pryce and Ashton Golding in his post-match press conference.

Hull KR have not shared their attendance.
