Swinton duo pen new deals
Swinton duo Rhodri Lloyd and Will Hope have signed new deals with the club.
Lions captain Lloyd has signed a two-year deal with Swinton. The centre or back-rower has earned 18 caps for Wales.
Swinton coach Stuart Littler said: “It’s massive news that we have re-signed our very influential club captain Rhodri Lloyd.
“It was vitally important that we got Rhodri completed due to his tremendous commitment to our cause.
“He is another player who was not without admirers at other clubs, and therefore we are very happy to have kept hold of him on a two-year deal.
“Rhodri has now been here since 2015 and he has been through everything with us both good and bad. He buys into everything we are trying to create at the club and he will continue to be very influential in our future successes. He has really grown with his leadership skills within his role as club captain and is someone I really trust.”
Back-rower Hope has signed a one-year deal with the Lions for the 2021 campaign. He has earned nine caps for Ireland.
Littler added: “It’s another real boost for us as a club to see the re-signing of Will Hope, who has taken up the option of a contract extension with us for 2021.
“Will has been outstanding since he joined the Lions and he is a player I have a lot of trust in. He is our vice captain and has a real presence within our team. Will is very consistent in his performances and I honestly cannot remember the last time he had a bad game.
“Will has shown great drive and determination to come through a testing time following a terrible injury, and just pre-lockdown he was back to his brilliant best.”
