Swinton sign Dan Birkett from Warrington

Swinton have signed utility back Dan Birkett from Warrington.

Birkett, 24, can play full-back, wing or centre and is also a quality goalkicker.

He was a late developer and joined Warrington last year from Wigan St Patrick’s after representing Great Britain as an amateur on the BARLA tour of Serbia in 2011.

Swinton director of rugby Paul Kidd said: “He is highly regarded by Warrington but his age was against him.

“But he still has a big future and is an excellent signing for us.”
