Three Challenge Cup fixtures to be shown live this weekend
Three Challenge Cup games from round one will be shown live this weekend.
It comes following the broadcasting deal announcement with The Sportsman, which will involve live streaming of 20 matches in 2022. Fixtures include the Women’s Super League and Challenge Cup, League 1, and Wheelchair Rugby League.
The new broadcasting deal kicks-off in the Cup this Saturday, January 15, when Wigan St Patricks head to Rochdale Mayfield. Legend Andy Gregory renews his relationship with the competition. He returns as head coach of the famous Wigan St Patricks community club.
The Rochdale Mayfield versus St Patricks match will kick off at 2:15pm. Commentary from Matt Horton and expert analysis from Andrew Henderson.
The Sportsman will also stream a tie from the second round later this month.
Challenge Cup early rounds to feature on BBC
Orrell St James’ round one clash with the British Army at 12:30pm on Saturday January 15 will be the first game of the 2022 campaign to be televised by the BBC.
And that will be followed in the second round two weeks later by the all-League 1 meeting between Rochdale and Midlands Hurricanes. Hornets host the clash at the Crown Oil Arena, with a 1:00pm kick-off.
Both ties on BBC will be streamed live on the BBC iPlayer and BBC Sport website and app.
Our League will also kick off another busy year of live streaming with next Sunday’s round one tie between Bentley and Stanningley.
