Three Crusaders supporters cycling to Big Welsh Derby

Three North Wales Crusaders fans are showing their commitment to the club’s cause, and cycling to Cardiff from Wrexham for Sunday’s Big Welsh Derby against South Wales Scorpions.

Although they originally intended to complete the challenge without any sponsorship, they would now like rugby league fans to back them by donating to the Danny Jones Memorial Fund.

Setting off on Friday, they intend to arrive in Cardiff on Saturday evening, in plenty of time for Sunday’s game, which kicks off at 3pm at Cardiff Arms Park.

Stage 1 on Friday is Wrexham to Newbridge-on-Wye via Welshpool which is 76 miles while on stage 2, they’ll go via Brecon on a 75 mile journey.

Mark (MAJ) Jones, Keith Peters and Andy Mitchell are the three cyclists taking on the challenge.

Jones is also team manager for the North Wales Crusaders Wheelchair RL and Wales Wheelchair RL  sides.

“We are enthusiastic cyclists and Rugby League fans,” he said.

“Initially this was a ride we were planning on doing without sponsorship but now we’re saying that anyone who would like to sponsor us, please simply donate money to the Danny Jones Memorial Fund.

“Our aim is to stop at towns and start conversations to promote Rugby League in Wales.

“I’ll also be able to talk about the Wheelchair sides as we need to use any opportunity to promote the fact that Rugby League can be played by all ages, all abilities and all genders.

“See you all in Cardiff.”
