Titus Gwaze makes Championship switch on long-term deal

Sheffield Eagles have announced the signing of prop forward Titus Gwaze on a three-year deal ahead of the 2023 Championship season. 

Gwaze, 23, joins from Halifax Panthers after failing to agree a new contract with the club.

He has previously featured for London Broncos and made his professional debut with Wakefield in Super League against Warrington.

He joins the likes of Jack Hansen, Cory Aston and Jesse Sene-Lefao making the move for the 2023 season.

 “I’m extremely excited and grateful to have signed a three-year deal,” he said.

“It’s the longest I’ve signed anywhere. So, I’m over the moon and have been looking forward to getting started and meeting everyone.

“Once I spoke to Tubbs about his vision and where he wants things to go for the future, three years seemed to just fit and it wasn’t even a hard decision to commit to that long term.

“Where the club is going and the goals that are set sit right with me and are similar to my goals. It made so much sense to be here for three years.”

Mark Aston on new signing Titus Gwaze

Director of rugby Mark Aston: “Signing Titus on a three-year deal signals our intention as a club and our belief in how good he is now and will become in future.

“When he’s on the pitch, you know about it as he carries the ball how a forward should. He gets into the guts of the defence.

“With the pack we’ve already built, Titus is one of the missing pieces for us to have a good tilt at a play-off push this year.

“It’s an exciting time to be at the Eagles, we all know that and Titus does too.”
