Twitter Talk: End of an era for Cunningham
Keiron Cunningham’s exit from St Helens comes on the back of a disappointing run that has seen the club record just three victories this season.
Friday’s 14-14 draw with Huddersfield Giants brought an end to Cunningham’s long association with Saints.
We take a look at the reaction to the news:
@loverugbyleague Shocked! Didnt think this would happen at all. Not sure if it was the right choice just waiting on the replacement we will have to see…

Sad to see Cunnigham go, I found him a pleasure to work with and would really open up if you got him off the day to day stuff. @Saints1890

Seeing Keiron Cunningham lose his job is tough, but it's an entertainment & results business and @Saints1890 weren't producing either

Keiron Cunningham probably one of the best players to ever pull a saints shirt on everybody needs to remember that

@loverugbyleague Shame, but needed. Team has lost edge, creativity and spark that made them famous. Still a club legend

@loverugbyleague Couldn't be happier to be honest, being a great player doesn't mean your gonna be a great manager, dreadful rugby for 2 seasons

@loverugbyleague The best possible outcome for the club

Not sure where he goes from here with his coaching career, all he knows is St Helens.. https://t.co/ML9YR9TiR7

@loverugbyleague not unexpected, a great player but not enough experience to be a head coach
— Chris (@North_Going_Zax) April 10, 2017
@loverugbyleague I think our players need to take a long hard look at themselves, as they had a part to play in this!!

@loverugbyleague A shame but it was coming, club legend. Maybe shouldn't have been promoted so soon. Players should feel ashamed of themselves as well

@loverugbyleague Had to happen, woeful coach and an embarrassment every time he opened his mouth. Legend of a player though

@loverugbyleague Surprised he kept the job as long as he did

Vacant national U16's coaches position? @WalesRugbyL #aimhigh https://t.co/QTWv5x3UMv

Right now, St Helens are not a top 4 club, IMO. Sacking Keiron Cunningham may just be masking more inherent issues #rugbyleague
