Valencia Huracanes were beaten 102-14 by Featherstone Rovers in their historic first-ever game.

The club, who are hopeful of securing entry to Betfred League One in 2021, had a squad made up mostly of Spanish domestic players, although they were bolstered by Salford trio Luis Roberts, Connor Aspey and Sam Bardsley.

The game was played at Villajoyosa’s El Campo del Pantano in front of over 500 supporters.

Aspey scored Huracanes’ first-ever try in the first half, while Miguel Tomas Enriqe became the first Spanish domestic player to cross early in the second half.

However, their squad was no match for Rovers, who ran in 19 tries in total.

Jake Sweeting, Sam Ottewell, Gareth Gale and Ben Blackmore all crossed for the visitors, while Louis Jouffret bagged himself two tries.

Nathan Wright, Brandon French, Dean Parata, Luke Cooper and Jack Richardson were also on the scoresheet for James Webster’s side.
